Informative and entertaining. A live morning show featuring a line up of guests discussing current community issues. American Samoa's most popular morning talk show, watched worldwide online.
Why should a Government Hospital turn a profit of at least 5%?
Our Legislators supposedly are representatives of the people. They are elected by the people to oversee the people’s interest. How will this key aspect of government be represented within LBJ’s Medical Board, if the Fono doesn’t have power to discuss and approve board decisions on fees?
If you want your board to be independent from the people’s representatives (Fono), then board members should be elected by the people. Why not?
I think the good doctor Uhrle is modeling his ideal hospital in accordance to a corporate model? Make a profit like Kaiser Permanente?
The number one cause of driving US families into bankruptcy is getting stuck with a monstrous medical bill they can’t keep up with.
American Samoa does not have a Bankruptcy Law. The cost of living continues to climb. What happens when family’s takes out huge bank loans to pay your hospital model and are unable to pay back? Will the bank confiscate collaterals as payment? Collaterals that are usually in the form of land, homes, etc?
Granted, our hospital needs money to function. Releasing a board not elected by the people to set their own fees to burden the people with, is an idea fit for thugs in my book.
I, MajaC the fisherman, advocate the Representative and Senator for Olosega not to leave such a board with an open check, as Dr. Urle is asking you to. If you do, there will come a day banks will own Olosega.
