Nurses’ Week kicked off on Sunday with a church service honoring all nurses and the service they provide. This year’s theme is “Making a Difference Every Day.”
Governor Togiola Tulafono spoke at Sunday’s church service about the quality care that nurses provide, and how they give of themselves to care for others. “We salute our nurses for their outstanding public service and dedication to caring for American Samoa,” said the governor.
A full calendar of activities and events are planned for the week. The LBJ Nursing Services Award will be presented, a nurses’ ball is scheduled for Thursday, and games among nurses and families on Friday.
Toward the end of the week, awards will be announced for an essay and poetry competition honoring nurses.
