Former Maoputasi faipule Fitifiti Asuega passed away yesterday morning. He was 70 years old.
Representing the village Pago Pago in the House of Representatives for two terms, Fitifiti Asuega was first elected in 1984, and he ran unopposed in 1986.
Before returning home to American Samoa, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 22 years and retired in 1981. Following his tenure in the Fono, he worked at the Department of Port Administration.
Fitifiti is survived by his wife Tufanua, their two sons, and seven grandchildren.
