New-Zealand based music group, Te Vaka, received two awards at the S-cubed Pacific Music Awards held last weekend in New Zealand. Te Vaka consists of eleven members from different countries across Oceania, including Samoa. They were awarded the Radio 531pi Best Pacific Group Award and the S-cubed Best Pacific Music Album for “Olatia.”
The NZ Music Commission Best Pacific Male Artist Award went to Samoan hip hop artist Scribe, whose real name is Malo Luafutu. Scribe received this award for his performance in his second album called “Rhyme Book.” He also received another award for APRA Best Pacific Song Category, which he shared with Tyra Hammond, Jordan Iusitini, and Aaron Iusitini for their performance of “Say It Again.”
Samoan singer Lole was awarded the Counties Manukau District Health Board Smoke-free Best Pacific Female Artist for her album “The Movement.”
Other music sensations that were also present at the Awards Ceremony include Vaniah Toloa, Julie Ta’ale, Nesian Mystik, and Kas Futialo.
