Polynesian Airlines’ second twin otter aircraft arrived on its maiden flight yesterday morning at the Tafuna airport. The 19- seater was in Apia last month and was being used for inter-Samoa flights as well as charter flights to Niue.
Polynesian Airlines recently purchased the twin otter from PPS Aircraft of Canada. The actual cost of the plane was not released, but estimates place the plane at about US $3.9 million.
Based on the 2008/2009 national budget of the Samoa government, the Samoa government-owned airline is expected to get a financial boost of around US$500,000 in the next financial year.
