Business and Professional Women of American Samoa showed continued support for the education of our young people through scholarship awards that will help selected high school students further their education at the college level. This year, BPWAS has awarded a total of $4,500 in scholarships to five young women who have graduated from high school this year.
A BPWAS representative said the award selection process was extremely difficult this year as they received a record number of 39 applications, and the caliber of applications was amazing.
Four of the scholarship recipients will each receive $1,000 to attend the off-island university of their choice and one scholarship recipient has been awarded $500 to attend the American Samoa Community College.
BPWAS said the annual scholarships are funded by raffle ticket sales, and they are thankful for all their members who worked hard to sell the raffle tickets. They also acknowledged all the sponsors for their prize donations.
