A brief ceremony was held this morning to dedicate the new grandstand at the Veterans Memorial Stadium in Tafuna.
The structure, which seats up to 1,000 people, was built by the Maintenance and Operations Division of the Department of Public Works. Total cost of the project was $500,000, and was funded by the Organizing Committee of the 10th Festival of Pacific Arts.
During his remarks, Governor Togiola Tulafono commended Public Works Director Taeaotui Punofo Tilei and his workers for a job well done. He also recalled how back in April, the project was far from underway, and there were doubts as to whether Public Works could complete the job in time for the festival.
