Informative and entertaining. A live morning show featuring a line up of guests discussing current community issues. American Samoa's most popular morning talk show, watched worldwide online.
Lieutenant Colonel Max Galeai was laid to rest today at his family’s home in Leone. His requiem mass was held at the Holy Cross parish in Leone and hundreds of people from the community, including government and traditional leaders, family, relatives and friends attended.
Galeai was 42 when he was killed last month by a suicide bomber in Iraq.
Governor Togiola Tulafono addressed the crowd during yesterday’s family service in Leone, and said “A Toa o Samoa has come home.” He told the crowd of how he first met Max Galeai more than 10 years ago, and was impressed by his elegance, confidence and compassion.
Togiola said that after meeting and watching the marine officer, he told the people traveling with him that “this young man is going to be one of the first Samoans to bear a star and become a general.”
On behalf of the government and the people of American Samoa, the governor expressed his deepest condolences to Galeai’s wife evelyn, their four children and the entire family. He said that he hopes everyone’s prayers will send the grace of God to comfort and heal them from their loss.
Governor Togiola then presented the American Samoa Service Medal and the American Samoa flag to both Evelyn, Max Galeai’s surviving wife, and his mother Kalala, honoring Galeai’s distinguished service.
Also speaking to the crowd of Galeai’s distinguished military career was Marine Lieutenant Colonel Duffy White, who described him as one of the best of the best.
